What is the difference between DataMapper and Centerprise?
DataMapper was designed for simpler environments where one or two people perform conversions right from their workstations.
Centerprise is designed for environments where a larger team works on data transformation, validation, and profiling.
By utilizing a server, Centerprise provides the greater scalability and performance necessary to process high data volumes.
Centerprise also offers an API framework for extending the core application. DataMapper is no longer available.
Can I use Centerprise to connect to [insert data source here]?
Centerprise can connect to flat files,Excel files, XML files, and directly to some of the more popular databases.
You can view exactly which sources it connects to
here. For all data sources not directly supported, Centerprise can connect through ODBC.
You can see which drivers have been tested for use with Centerprise
here.
Why won't it transfer more than 300 records?
Centerprise is limited to 300 records for the trial version of the software. Once you have purchased and enter in a valid unlock code, the 300 record limit
will be lifted. Note that this applies to both the server as well as the client. So, if you've unlocked the client only, you may still face this limitation until
you unlock the server.
Can I map multiple sources to a single destination?
In most cases, a data transfer in Centerprise consists of a single source to a single destination. You can however, use multiple database tables in a single transfer
by selecting SQL Query as your source. In this way you can join multiple tables together in your sql statement. You can also use a Data Model as your source, which inherently
uses multiple tables. For all other cases, you'll have to create a transfer batch and add a separate transfer for each source you have and append to the destination.
Can I map a source to multiple destinations?
Each data transfer in Centerprise can have only one destination. To output to multiple destinations, you'll have to create a transfer batch and add a transfer for each
source you have.
Can Centerprise conditionally skip records based on the value in a cell?
Yes. There are actually several ways to do this in Centerprise. If the source is a file, you can add a filter to the source file reading options. This filter uses Astera's
Rules Language syntax and will prevent source records that don't pass the filter from making to the mapping stage. If the source is a database table, Centerprise will allow the
use of a where clause statement which will be appended to the SQL generated.
Can you convert QIF (Quicken Interchange Format) to CSV?
No. Centerprise does not currently recognize the QIF file format. However, it may be easier to connect to the Quicken database directly by way of ODBC.

Can I point Centerprise to pull data from a table on a web page?
No. Centerprise cannot pull in data from a web page. We recommend using a browser extension that will allow you to save to a file format. Once in this format,
you can use Centerprise to extract and transform it.
I need to move my copy of Centerprise to a different machine. How do I transfer my license to another machine?
To move your license onto another machine, you must first deactivate the license on the machine you wish to move from. To do this, follow the "Deactivation Wizard" found
under the tools menu in Centerprise Integration Studio.
How often do you update Centerprise?
Updates to our products happen fairly regularly. Updates are more frequent closer to the release date, some times days apart. As time goes on, monthly updates usually suffice.
Note, that these updates only apply for minor updates. Major updates are not covered by your license and you'll need to upgrade to receive them.
How do I connect to my Oracle database if I use a TNSNames file?
If using a TNS Names file to connect to Oracle, you must fill out the TNSNames file details in Centerprise. These are the file path for the names file and Net Service Name used
to connect.
Why does the order of records differ in the data preview vs the actual output?
Centerprise is able to process a high number of records by being a multi-threaded application. Because of this, records are by default transferred
in parallel rather than in serial. This means that the order of the records in the destination is indeterminate. The data preview is not multi-threaded and thus
order is preserved. To preserve order, make sure you select the "preserve record order" option when creating the setting. This option has an adverse affect
on performance, however.
