What is an EDI 350 Customs Status Information Document?

EDI 350 is an electronic document that contains import and export shipment details such as cargo release information and cargo hold information and is used by the Customs Service.  

The transaction set can also be used for the following purposes:  

  • To provide information to exporters and their agents regarding the status of a shipment  
  • To provide information to importers and their agents regarding the status of a shipment  

The data contents and format of EDI 350 Customs Status Information are divided into various segments and data elements, which are used for the electronic interchange of information.  

Workflow for the Exchange of an EDI 350 Customs Status Information Document

EDI 350 falls under the category of X12I Transportation transaction set. It is used by the Customs Service to notify terminal operators, service providers, and supply carriers about the status of a shipment. Importers and exporters can be notified about import and export shipments through this EDI document. It can also be used with other transaction sets to provide information related to ocean carriers.
