    How Astera Helped Me Discover My Passion

    Sanober Saleem, presently working as a Quality Assurance Lead talks about her journey at Astera Software that led her to discover her passion. In 2017, Sanober joined Astera Software as a Marketing Intern. Within the next few months, she realized her true calling was in QA. Astera helped her transition from Marketing to QA by offering her unparalleled support, resources, and guidance. Astera’s autonomous work structure, acceptance to new ideas, and innovation-first approach helped her realize her true potential. Currently, Sanober is leading a team of three QA and Support Engineers, and her team continues to grow. 

    Can you share how your journey with Astera Software began?  

    I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Szabist. As a fresh graduate, I joined Astera as a Marketing Intern. Gradually, I got promoted to the role of Management Trainee (Marketing) and then Marketing Associate. My work primarily involved SEO research and implementation, and writing product and marketing-related content (blogs, whitepapers, etc.). In the beginning, I somewhat struggled with technical content writing, as it was a new arena for me. But gradually, with the company’s support, I was able to explore further areas and understand where my strengths and interests lie.   

    How and why did you change your department from Marketing to QA?  

    Every new hire at Astera is trained and encouraged to get a good grasp of our software solutions. I needed to gain a better understanding of the solutions for producing technically accurate marketing content. Therefore, I was temporarily shifted to the QA & Support department.   Learning the technical aspect of the products fascinated me. As I got more involved and developed a keen interest in the products, I realized my expertise lies in QA, so I never moved back to the marketing department. If it hadn’t been for Astera’s flexible and supportive culture, I’d have never found where my true passion lies!  

    Tell us about your journey to the QA department?  

    My journey has been exciting so far. Working for a software company means that you’re always exploring, developing, and releasing new functionalities. However, my typical day involves dealing with QA related tasks, such as testing new and existing features to ensure their performance is up to the mark. I get to learn new things daily, like evolving trends in the data industry, and I like how my work never gets monotonous 

    How did Astera Software help you realize where your expertise lies?  

    Coming from a non-technical business background, I only had a basic understanding of what a QA department does. Astera gave me a chance to explore QA, and based on my interest, I was allowed to switch departments. I’d always be grateful to Astera for trusting and supporting me.   

    I couldn’t have asked for a better first employer. Astera has always given me the autonomy and flexibility to initiate ideas, and encouraged me to find my interest area. 

    Why do you think others should join Astera Software?  

    I would vote in favor of Astera because of the diversity in work, and the freedom to grow in and work on projects you are passionate about. If you talk about my department, QA acts as a bridge between development, marketing, and technical documentation teams at Astera. For instance, I frequently communicate with the Development team to improve the functionality of existing and new features. Similarly, I assist the Marketing and Documentation teams with the content requirements of product features.  I believe QA offers unparalleled learning opportunities in a versatile environment. And the best part is that the work never gets boring.
