Learn how Astera ReportMiner offers data extraction of only part of the document/report through rule-based filtering approach.
What is Rule-Based Filtering
Rule-based filtering is an approach of data extraction that allows users to limit the information they want to extract by highlighting certain parts of the document.
The rule-based filtering approach requires the user to create a specific set of rules for each operation. Many data extraction software now allows template-based data extraction in which rule-based filtering can be created pre-process.
How to Apply Rule-Based Filtering in Astera ReportMiner?
Often when exporting data from an extraction process, only certain information is needed. It can be a time-consuming and complex process to export all the extracted data and then delete the unwanted data from the destination.
Apply Address Based Filtering Rules
ReportMiner solves this problem in a quick and easy way with its rule-based filtering for export feature.
All you need to do is create your export setting and then type in your rule-based filter in the expression window as shown shown in the figure below, then verify the rule by clicking on the compile button.
In this case, the user only wanted to export data for sofas, so the expression is ITEM = SOFA.
Export Filtered Data to Excel Sheet
ReportMiner will export only the records that meet the criteria of your expression. In this case, two records that pertain to sofas were exported.
